Laufer was my invaluable job resource!
While searching for my next job, and trying to start a new career Laufer and and Associates were an invaluable resourse to me. Julie and Kelly constantly had new ideas, were quick to set up a new interview or have a new temp opportunity available. While the process of finding a new job was by no means seamless, Laufer was able to take a great deal of the stress out my search with outstanding feedback and advice.
The team at Laufer was always available to me, whether it was to provide insight on interview or helpful hint to make my resume stand out.

I am thrilled to have recently begun my new position. After deciding to leave my last job at Lesley University, I took a six month sabbatical before beginning my job "hunt". I spent these months increasing my volunteer work at a variety of children's charities and enjoyed the impact I made during this time.

When I found out that I was being laid off I was devastated. Thoughts began to race through my mind. How will I get out of my lease? Can I really move home? How will I keep up with bills that are already overwhelming? It was all just too much to figure out. Luckily, I had some time left at my job before I was "out on the street". After doing an extensive search for jobs within my field and coming up empty handed I had a revelation. I realized that I had explored every niche of my field in my five years out of college. There really was not much room for advancement and I was not where I wanted to be at this point in my life. The question became - where do I go from here?
I had to look at all my experiences and find something within them that I could make into a new career path. Once I had that plan I began the mad dash for that new "dream" job. I began applying to every opening that I came across. Before I knew it, I was no longer working and I still didn't have a job. I applied for unemployment my first day out of work. I waited in line for 3.5 hours just to be handed a pamphlet and told I'd have to wait four weeks to receive any money. I couldn't sleep. I spent every day in front of the computer. Out of the 400 plus resumes I sent out I received only seven responses. Two were from actual jobs (one of them paying half of my expectant salary), the other five were staffing agencies.
Each time I went to a new staffing agency I was met with smiling faces and promises of a new career within a short amount of time. After each interview I heard nothing. Upon calling them diligently each week to check in I received the same story from each one. "There's really nothing out there right now with the market the way it is. Things are really slow due to the holidays. Our employers are looking for someone with a more traditional background. Unfortunately, we have people that are better qualified than you are." I was angry. With the support of loved ones, I kept trudging on was beginning to get desperate, and to top things off, my previous employer tried to tell the unemployment agency that I quit and so I had gone a month without a paycheck. For the first time in my life I didn't pay a bill.
I received another email from the fifth staffing a gency, Laufer and Associates, to come in for an interview. I put on my suit and tried to feel excited but inside I was really deflated and told myself not to expect much. When I met Kelly and Julie I was delighted; it was a small operation in a beautiful office. I could really tell that they cared about getting me a job. Also, they actually didn't even mention a job that was less than I was looking to get paid, which took some of the guilt the other staffing agencies made me feel away. They were in contact with me daily. Two days later they were sending me on an interview with a "hip" and fun company that matched my personality. That very same day, I received the call from another job wanting me to come in for an interview. Both first interviews went really well and I was invited back for second interviews. The two second interviews were actually on the same day. Both jobs were making a decision on the same day. I was one of two candidates at both jobs. The unemployment agency called and told me that they sent a check for all the money I hadn't been getting. I really felt that the second I stepped into Laufer and Associates my luck changed. While I was offered both jobs, I was so excited but I had a tough decision to make. In the end it came down to trusting that the girls at Laufer & Associates really knew that this one job would be a great fit for me. And they were right! I have now been at my job for two months. I love the people, I love what I do, and most importantly I see this as the beginning of a growing career.

After a lot of careful thought and consideration, I decided that it was time to leave a wonderful organization where I spent three years. As one would imagine, there were a considerable amount of concerns that came with it. These concerns were not alleviated by the many calls and emails I received from a number of recruiters upon posting my resume online. With each conversation, I couldn't shake the feeling of deja-vu as they each ran through the same set of questions and promised that they would work their hardest to find me my ideal job. I can't tell you how many times I received postings that did not even match my skill set or was in line with anything I had discussed. However, upon my first conversation with Julie Laufer, I knew that Laufer and Associates was different.
Julie had contacted me for a job opportunity that she felt was right in line with my skill set. She listened to me as I explained to her my reasons for leaving my employer, where I envisioned my career path, and what my ideal job would be. We discussed the job opportunity available and she explained why she felt it was a good fit. I was quite interested in further exploring this option and was excited to meet with Julie at Laufer and Associates office. I will admit that the reality of my decision to leave my current employer set in as I walked into the reception area and I began to second guess myself. I began perusing some of the reading material they had available in hopes to distract these thoughts. To my surprise, I found that these books were filled with notes and letters from hundreds of individuals who turned to Julie and her staff for assistance in their job search. I was calmed immediately. I knew it was time to move on in my career and I knew that Laufer and Associates were the ones to help.
Julie was as warm and welcoming in person as she was on the phone. For the first time in my job search, she made me feel like a person rather than another recruit. We did not have an interview, but we had a conversation. She understood right away what I was looking for and went above and beyond to assist me in my job search. As I began to meet with employers, she was there with reassuring words before and after the interviews. She, along with her staff, worked diligently in scheduling calls, follow-up interviews, answering questions as well as keeping me posted on the progress. As we all know how frustrating the interview process can be, I did not wonder once what the status was as Julie always kept me informed. Julie was not only there to offer my first congratulations on receiving the position, but also talked me through my final concerns on leaving my current employer and why making this move was truly in my best interest.
I am happy to say that I have been with my new organization for 3 months now and I have enjoyed working here every day. They made my move a pleasurable experience and I have recommended them to friends who were in a similar situation. Laufer and Associates was amazing to work with and I am truly grateful for all their hard work and dedication.

A Mountain Peak Amid Plains and Hills
Nothing that I can write can effectively summarize my endorsement of Laufer and Associates. As soon as I walked through the office door, I was amazed by the energetic tone of the environment - a welcome change from the stolid aura projected by most staffing firms. Laufer is noticeably different - welcoming, dynamic and engaging.
The initial battery of tests demonstrated Laufer and Associates' unwavering commitment to professionalism, and my personal recruiter, Justin, even made some suggestions on how I could improve my skills. The entire staff from recruiters up to Ms. Laufer herself, were extremely reactive, supportive, and highly professional. Their attitude towards client services was nothing short of superlative. There was never a feeling of being steered into undesired positions - at Laufer and Associates, you are the helmsman, and the firm is a very, very effective rudder to direct you where you want to go.
After three weeks of interviews with top-level firms and excellent individuals, I was offered a position working for a company that I could never have imagined working for without Laufer's aid. Working Her Way to the Top
I graduated from college and found a job that I loved. I really enjoyed working there but I was unable to stay due to financial obligations. As winter turned into spring I decided that I would move forward and look for a more financially secure job that I would enjoy. That's where Laufer and Associates came in.
My passion has always been to help people, a skill that I would be able to apply in Administration. I tried, without much success, to search for available opportunities. Fortunately, I discovered Laufer and Associates and my luck changed. They were very understanding of my personal goals and what I wanted to achieve in my career. I started not only landing interviews but I landed great interviews. It was difficult to change careers but Laufer provided me with the confidence to make the transition easier. An Intense and Amazing Journey
So first and foremost a huge thank you goes out to all the folks at Laufer and Associate. Without them I would not be where I am today.
For me it was an intense and amazing journey. It all happened so fast that before I knew it I was contracting with the company for which I now work full time. The experience here was and is wonderful. The work I do and the people I work with are all just amazing. We are such a fast paced company that I'm always on the go and that's exactly what I needed.
Without Laufer and Associates I would never have found them. But here I am, finally a full time employee and loving every second of it.

How Laufer and Associates is Different and Better
How can I explain the difference between searching for a job through Laufer and Associates vs. through a number of more mainstream recruiters I've worked with? It's like going to a family doctor rather than to a vast anonymous hospital, or perhaps like being in a swarming crowd and suddenly being recognized.
You embark on your job search, with all that makes you uniquely yourself: all you've learned, experienced and grown from, some skills that are the sort you see on job descriptions and are accustomed to ticking off on your resume and others that are more amorphous, that emerge through interaction, that may not belong on your resume but that may mean more to a future employer than anything that is on there. These are the things that are lost on other recruiters, but not on Laufer.
I knew after one conversation with a Laufer recruiter that they would find me a job one day and not only that, that they would find me a job that was better suited to me than any another recruiter could find and even any I might find on my own. Little comments I made were taken note of and later passed on to employers, comments that only I could have made and that expressed how I think and what my values are. You feel Laufer recruiters become infected with you, with the sense of who you are and with an urgent drive to not just find you a job but find you YOUR job.

From Temp-to-Hire to Permanent
This past spring, after being laid off, I found myself back in the market looking for a new position. At first, I felt a bit displaced — career networking can be extremely stressful. Luckily, I soon found the perfect place to be in! I did my research on-line and shortly thereafter contacted Laufer and Associates. I met with Julie Sheehan at Laufer and Associates, and I was immediately impressed with her tact and professionalism.
To be honest, my previous experiences with agencies had left me a bit skeptical. I had been to agencies in the past where I felt they had misled me about positions they supposedly had available and they had undersold positions to me. My skepticism was put at ease soon after my interview with Julie. Julie's knowledge, tact and understanding of the industry all ensured my trust. Within a short time I was sent on an interview with an extremely reputable company! This interview not only impressed me that Laufer means business; it also made me confident that Laufer listens. They were not using fictitious positions just to get me to sign on.
Career networking can be time consuming and costly. To have an efficient and effective team to work with such as the Laufer team can make an enormous difference, as it did in my career search! I interviewed for a temp-to-hire position and prior to that I was properly prepared by the coaching that I received from Laufer. This coaching was an invaluable process prior to starting with their client! Personally, I would fully recommend to a potential candidate taking the chance on a temp-to-hire position. A temp-to-hire position is a super opportunity to show your worth to your potential new employer! I can't think of a better way to see if this position is truly for you! With temping, you are able to keep your skills sharp, meet new colleagues, understand the company’s environment, their expectations, your commute etc.
During my tenure as a temporary employee, I received follow-up calls and emails from Laufer and Associates. Fortunately, I was on a temporary job that required little back up but I felt at ease knowing that I was not alone!! Soon I was offered a permanent spot. Where one door closes, another one opens! What would normally be seen as a difficult time became a fond memory because of Laufer and Associates.

Betting on a Perfect Match with Laufer and Associates
The first time I met Julie Laufer, I was so tired of recruiters. I had literally met with a dozen recruiters in the three or four days prior to meeting Julie. When she called me and said: "I have the perfect job for you," I thought: what a line! As if I hadn’t heard that one before. I told her that I already had a handful of recruiters working for me who all said the same thing, and I was ready to just sit back and let the phone ring with interviews. But Julie insisted I just come in to meet with her – just "five minutes" she said, "and you won’t regret it!"
So I resigned myself to going through the motions again: selling myself, telling her how great I was, and so on and so on. Well, when I got there and she came out to greet me – I couldn’t believe it when I felt myself immediately drawn to her enthusiasm, confidence, and welcoming personality. The five minutes turned into an hour or more, at the end of which I’d not only found someone who I knew in my heart would find me the perfect job – but who I would also come to call a friend. She made me a bet at that first meeting (and we shook on it) that she would place me. To this day, neither of us can seem to remember what we bet – but I guess that plays in my favor since she won! I know Julie would say that I was the most "high maintenance" candidate she’d ever worked with – and I was. I had to give her a hard time.
Well, I hadn’t even made it home that day before I had a message from her with my first interview lined up! I just smiled to myself and thought – obviously there was a reason I went to see Julie Laufer. Not only did she send me on a great interview – she sent me on two!! To this day, I give her a hard time about the stress she caused me by putting me in front of two great companies and forcing me to debate the pros and cons of which I liked better.
In the end, I got that "great" job that she promised me on day one, and I have never, EVER been happier in a job before in my life. Julie Laufer knows people, she knows personalities and she knows which ones click and which ones don’t. She genuinely tries her hardest to make sure her clients, as well as her candidates are happy for the long term.
Working with many recruiters over my 20 years as an EA, I have never had a more positive experience!! Oh, and did I fail to mention that I referred a friend to Julie who was also placed in a job that she loves within two days of meeting Julie! Now, would I recommend Laufer and Associates? Unquestionably, undoubtedly, wholeheartedly!! If you want to be happy in a new job – just go see one of the Laufer Team!

Transitioning with Ease with Laufer and Associates
Start to finish, my experience with Laufer and Associates was fantastic. I can’t say enough great things about Julie and Justin. From the moment I walked in the door, I felt comforted by the environment that Julie has created at Laufer and Associates. The entire team at Laufer is so positive and incredibly confident that you can’t help but exude those same feelings about yourself when meeting with a potential employer. The team knows how to prepare a candidate and ensures that they have the tools to be successful in each individual opportunity.
My situation was a bit unique, as I was transitioning from one industry to a completely new one. My biggest obstacle was that I didn’t have a typical resume. I had a ten-year background in hospitality and didn’t exactly know what I was looking for, just that I was ready for a change. To be frank, I was terrified that I wouldn’t find a company willing to take a chance on me. This created a few butterflies in my stomach to say the least, and the team at Laufer did everything to settle my nerves and help to build confidence in my skills and experience, even if it I didn’t have a ‘traditional resume.’ Julie and Justin found fantastic companies for me to talk and meet with, and it turned into a case of too many to choose from. The clients that Laufer and Associates works with are top notch. Each and every company I spoke with, I would absolutely consider an opportunity.
Luckily enough, I have ended up with a fantastic firm, working with half a dozen others that have all found a home here through Julie and the team at Laufer. My associates are equally fantastic. The energy that is created by Julie is real, and it carries through in everyone that works at Laufer, and spills over to all the candidates that are lucky enough to find this team. My first experience with Laufer and Associates came about back in December 2005. I was two weeks away from being a college grad with the overwhelming threat of unemployment. I had been searching for a job for two weeks, sending out more resumes than I could remember, with no prospects on the horizon, and reality hammering at my door. That’s when the call came. A reassuring call from the most energetic voice I had heard in a long time telling me I should come in and check out the job opportunities Laufer had that I’d be perfect for. What did I have to lose?
I went in to Laufer and was greeted by not only the warm atmosphere, but also by the exuberance of Courtney. Still, at that point I had been to three recruiting agencies, and was frankly tired of it. Luckily, I met with my recruiter at the time and was so comforted with positive energy, that I became more than at ease. At the time, I was presented with the opportunity at the company I’m with now, but had no means of transportation. I was introduced to Julie, who proceeded to unofficially offer me a position with Laufer. I was so enamored by the contagious dynamic of the Laufer team, I found myself hoping for it to be a reality. I was thankfully called in the following week and was offered the job on the spot.
Nearly six months later, an opportunity arose again with my present company. I had dealt with them during my entire tenure at Laufer and learned a great deal about the company itself. I loved what the company stood for and had developed good relations with some of the people there. I went to Justin and Julie about this opportunity. They arranged everything and gave me with unwavering support. I have been at my new company a little over a month now and still get calls from Justin checking in to make sure everything’s going well, and that I’m content.
