| 1 December, 2009 - Welcome back for the second installment of "Resume Tips!" Last edition I spoke about bullet points, how to use them and why it's so important to incorporate them into your resume. To view the full first article click here.
I also touched on the changing your resume to fit the job you're applying for. I gave one easy way to customize your resume. In this article I will give you another.
Use the key words in the job ad in your resume.
Go through the job description, picking out the points that match your skill set and incorporate the wording into your resume. For example, if one of the key responsibilities in an ad is "Welcome all visitors," make sure to use that phrase in your resume. You can change a phrase like "Greeted all customers" to "Welcomed all visitors."
Continue on through the ad, picking out key words and phrases and including them in your resume as in the example above. And that's it! You've just customized your resume. |
